Porn Sunday!

Next Sunday, led by xxxchurch.com, we're going to be having a Porn Sunday here.

I know I often bounce about with excitement and this is yet another time when I'm doing a good impression of Tigger. Porn is a topic not talked about often generally, let alone in church but when things are kept in the shadows or are considered taboo subjects, they can end up doing waay more harm than if you get them out there, with helpful facts and lower the shame level so people can learn what they need to know and get help if they need/want it.

This isn't a religious issue, it's a human issue. 40% of British couples in counselling in 2006 rated porn as one of the reasons for their difficulties. Around 50% of divorces note porn as a reason for the relationship breakdown. "Porn" is the 4th most googled word by children UNDER 7. The average age a child first views porn is 11. The child porn industry is worth $3 billion annually.

So on Sunday evening, we're going to see what xxxchurch have to say then have a bit of a discussion about it. We're also going to be joined via skype by Linda Dunshee who is a GREAT lady involved in a strip club ministry in Seattle. Linda has also worked on teams with xxxchurch in Vegas, in a brothel and at the porn show there in January, so she'll be able to offer some stories from her perspective and take questions.

PLEASE PRAY- that people would come and that it would be a good night. Please pray we would be brave and keep it real and that it would bring healing.
